How to get dot repeat working in nvim to repeat copilot completions

I would like to be able to use the dot repeat operator (.) in nvim to repeat previous completions made with copilot.

I've tried various recipes using tpope's vim-repeat, but haven't been able to get anything working. In particular, I've tried some of the approaches mentioned in this stackoverflow discussion: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/77223892/repeat-with-a-motion-plugin-command-mapped-in-lua-throught-keyset

Known issue, it's been annoying me too. I'll post back here when it gets fixed.

Copilot isn't inserting completed text into the "." register, doing some investigations.

I've got a fix for this on my local, however, I can't create a PR due to repository rights.
The issue would be on line 497 in autoload/copilot.vim.

The control characters used to insert queued text is \<C-R>\<C-O>. Changing these to \<C-R>\<C-R> fixed the issue. I'll release a fork shortly if not in breach of license.

<C-R><C-R> won't work for multi-line insertions. But I can look into using it for single-line only, which would still be a big improvement.

Copilot.vim 1.34.0 has support for use of the . operator to repeat single-line insertions.

Further: \<C-R>\<C-O>\<C-R>\<C-R> seems to do multiline inserts and inserting into the "." register, though indentation is incorrect. I also tried \<C-R>\<C-P>\<C-R>\<C-R> to fix indentation however no luck. There could also be something wrong with my environment though.

Edit: The indentation could be the control chars, \<C-R>\<C-R> inserted as whitespace chars as it is always 2 spaces, unsure of this though.
