Overview

All content written for the Wikimedia Foundation website should be written in the "organization's voice" and follow all appropriate content guidelines, including:

Additionally, any requests for content additions or content modifications should be discussed with the organization websites team BEFORE work begins on actual content development.

Key players

All content developed for the website must be approved by the Foundation's Digital Media team within the Communications department. You can contact them to initiate a request for new or modified content on an organization website.

Naming pages

Pages should be named using sentence case.

Report names and types are for sake of this website considered proper names (Transparency Report, Annual Report, Financial Reports, etc.).

URL setup

URLs should be:

  • Kept short - but reasonably descriptive
  • Specific to areas of the site
  • Remain in English across all languages (to facilitate easier linking to languages from other sites without setting up a lot of language specific redirects)
