Improves the code quality (thus addressing #105 and #113) and removed superfluous code of unsupported features (thus addressing #106).
This pull request only regards cosmetic and structural changes. It does not fix bugs or change program behavior.
It is also just a drop in the bucket and does fix every code quality issue.
