Yes, we need this in 1.2.x, based on 6.19.6. @slemeur confirmed this on Aug 8 via email:

If we want it included in CRW 1.2.2, we should do it before Sept 1.
If it's not important for customers, then we can include it in CRW 1.2.3 in Oct/Nov.

Yes this issue is a real problem and we need to tackle it.
It affects CRW 1.x but also Che 7 and CRW 2.x - on OCP 4.x
Please take this one in the sprint (we pushed it since long time)
