Cinnamon is a desktop environment that strikes a nice balance: it's lighter and more easily customizable than GNOME and more modern and feature-rich than Xfce, yet it won't overwhelm you with options the way KDE Plasma might. If you just want a convenient, traditional environment and don't need lots of bells and whistles, this could be the perfect fit!
