On 0.18.7

node_data['hostname']

does not exist

It looks like the hostname wasn't added until later to all stats (elastic/elasticsearch#1433). As far as I can tell, there isn't any way to get the hostname from other places either. So for versions < 0.19 (or anything without node_data['hostname'] we'll just use the hostname of the host running the agent.
