Guru Meditation Error

Good afternoon,

I installed the latest bin version, and occasionally the display screen will reset whenever I enter in an input (I apologize in advance as working with this type of stuff is very new to me.) I did manage to run it via console and saw that it was throwing this error message. I was able to replicate it several times:

You could help us if you provide some additional information about your setup and configuration:

1. Which versions did you tryout? I read that you installed the latest bin - did you try any other version with the same result? Not necessary but also interesting to know
2. How did you flash the device? Webflasher, esp-tool or VScode with PlatformIO?
3. Do you have a SD card installed? Does it contain the sound assets? It's not demanded just a helpful detail.
4. Is the crash happening during the setup (selection of items) or if you "input" on the game screen?
5. Can you navigate to other screens like e.g. configuration (typically through the bottom yellow buttons)?

Sure thing. To answer your follow up questions:

1. I used the latest version link (so I'm assuming that will be 1.1.13). I have not tried any other versions, but I was planning on doing so tonight.
2. I flashed the device using the ESP Tool website.
3. I do have an SD card installed but nothing is on it at the moment.
4. It seems to happen more when I navigate through the different item menus and then try to select an input. I can try messing around with the sequence more when I get home from work tonight, that is one thing I didn't pay close attention to.
5. I can navigate to the other menus just with the app crashing during the sequence previously explained.

Update:

I'm now using v1.1.12 and I am getting the crashes as well. The three scenarios I'm seeing them happen is when:

1. When I'm rapidly changing menus
2. Rapidly selecting items within the menus
3. If I sit idle for a bit and try to input a selection

Thanks for your efforts and your feedback.

I just try to understand what happens, since the error message in general indicates an issue with the running code on "Core 0".
The devices is a dual core device and the heavy lifting for the UI and buttons in general are done on the second core "Core 1".

The first core only relates to the basic firmware and runs the transfer for bluetooth and plays audio - that why my questions were so specific.

For now it seems that you're the first person reporting this and I'd really get deeper into it if there is a general issue with the code.
From my perspective it's hard to get a better understanding since we all should have the same devices - only on thing is different for all of the users: the bluetooth connection device. Some people use their onboard bluetooth module. Others use an USB stick.

There were already some issues which could be resolved by unpairing and re-pairing. After months of using the device without any flaws I also had it one time but quickly figured it out and after the new pairing everything worked fine.

We also notice that after some hours of continous playing there could be a random reboot (without any interaction) but we're still investigating on that.

Another user reported that he connected the macropad to his smartphone and reconnect it to his pc solved his connection issue.

Is there a chance that you have an alternative USB modul laying around which you could try to use for connecting the macropad?

No worries, I do apologize if my feedback is a bit vague or not; as I mentioned I am very new to this, but I do appreciate the response. I did order a TP Link bluetooth dongle that should be arriving today, so I'll try to use that and see how it behaves. I definitely do think that the onboard bluetooth on my PC is buggy or straight up does not work properly, so fingers crossed that it works!

I got the new dongle and it seems to be much better now. It still does crash every once and awhile (mainly when I go from the loadout screen back to the weapon/equipment option after a long time) but I played a solid 2 and a half hours with no issues. Works great in game!

Fantastic! So I'm happy to hear that it works in general and we definetly will have more investigations on random crashes which seem to happen. I'll have a look into it during the next days.

Every feedback is welcome and it's also our first private project that has been released in that way. So we're all learning on this and we're happy to see that it's getting more and more popular.
