It would be great to have an option to pause or hide your GitHub account instead of permanently deleting it.

This feature would be useful for users who use GitHub as a portfolio but need a break or want to temporarily step away from the platform without losing their account and data.

It would especially benefit those who don't want to fully delete their account but still need some time away.

Would making your profile private work for you while you take a break?

Thanks for your response. However, that option does not cover the requested feature.

There are many users use GitHub purely for portfolio purposes. When they deactivate their account, they want their profiles and repositories to be completely inaccessible. If they need to use it again, they can make their repositories and profiles visible.

In many other services, this feature is available with a single click. It would also be helpful if GitHub offered this option for other users. There shouldn't be a need to delete the account to achieve this.
