Scanner resolution

Scanner resolution defines how detailed the images coming from your scanner must be.

Higher resolutions mean longer scans, longer OCR, more time to display, more space used on disk, but also better OCR. Lower resolutions mean shorter scans, shorter OCR, less time to display, less space used on disk, but also inferior OCR, and possibly unreadable image (even by a human).

300 dpi is considered a good trade-off.
