Expected Behavior

The entire window being captured should be displayed in OBS, even the portion that is partially off-screen and hidden behind the Windows taskbar (or at the edge of the screen). The capture should continuously update with the content of the entire window, regardless of its position.

Current Behavior

When the window being captured is partially off-screen (specifically when a portion is hidden behind the Windows taskbar or at the edge of the screen), OBS only captures the visible portion correctly. The off-screen portion of the captured window freezes or is not updated, resulting in a static or incomplete capture.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open a window containing video content (e.g., a video player, a Telegram live stream window).
  2. Open OBS Studio.
  3. Add a "Window Capture" source in OBS.
  4. Select the window from step 1 as the source for the "Window Capture".
  5. Drag the selected window so that a portion of it is hidden behind the Windows taskbar (or to the left, right or top edge of the screen so it goes off-screen).
  6. Start a recording or preview the capture in OBS.
  7. Observe that the portion of the captured window hidden behind the taskbar (or off-screen) is frozen or not updating. The on-screen portion is captured correctly.

Anything else we should know?

  • This issue started occurring around October 2024. I did not experience this issue before May 2024. I tested different versions of OBS Studio.
  • I initially suspected TaskbarX was causing the problem, but the issue persists even when TaskbarX is disabled.
  • I am unable to provide screenshots at this time.
  • I am capturing Telegram Live streams.
  • [If you have logs, add this line]: OBS Log file attached. [Attach the log file]

Hello, an OBS log file grabbed after the issue has occurred is required for bug reports.
