Need some assistance: Unknown route even though parameter is set to *.vtuner.com in the yTuner.ini file

Hi everyone,

First, I'd like to thank Greg for this solution and his initial help. I have made some progress with my Debian Linux box, however I am currently at this stage. When I select the INTERNET RADIO on my Pioneer SC-79 unit, it triggers the Unkown route message.

The strange is that instead of URI /setupapp/pioneer/asp/func/dynamOD.asp?ex45v=AC4C0837C5924A93A8A306CF6B1F96CF&id=101916 YTuner receive "something" where URI contains protocol + host + port included 👀 Why is your pioneer sending something like this? 👀
Try to use web browser and go to URL :

http://192.168.2.122/setupapp/pioneer/asp/func/dynamOD.asp?ex45v=AC4C0837C5924A93A8A306CF6B1F96CF&id=101916

Can you hear the music from your web browser? What does the YTuner log looks like now?

What is your RPi version? Which release file did you download? 🤔

Thanks for your response. I have verified as per your guidance. I did keep all of the default parameters as it was installed.

I can hear the music via the URL in the browser no problem. You will see this below in the log below at 19:51:06. Not sure why my system is sending the protocol+host+port within the string.

I am running RPi version Rasbian GNU/Linux 11(bullseye) and using yTuner zip file ytuner-1.2.6-armhf-armv7-armv8-armv9-linux

Don't worry, I'll figure out how to solve this... 🤔
I will help you, but first you have to help me and other users of devices like Pioneer SC-79.
We need to find out exactly what the queries directed by SC-79 to YTuner look like 👍

If you want to help other Pioneer users, let's get started ...

1. Turn off your Pioneer.
2. Install wireshark :

sudo apt install wireshark

3. Start x-session (graphical interface - desktop) on your RPI
4. Run YTuner on terminal session as before :

sudo ./ytuner

5. Run Wireshark on another terminal session with ❗ :

sudo wireshark

You should see :

Let's assume :

• my YTuner machine (RPi) IP address : 192.168.1.125
• your YTuner machine (RPi) IP address : 192.168.2.122
• my AVR IP address : 192.168.1.12
• your AVR IP address : 192.168.2.???

Please add to filter field :

ip.src == 192.168.2.??? && ip.dst == 192.168.2.122 && tcp.port == 80

Use your corresponding IP addresses ❗
Select interface eth0 or other if you use wi-fi.

6. Press blue shark fin button (start frame capture).
7. Turn on your Pioneer.
8. You sholud see again on YTuner log :

11. Make sure there is an entry in Wireshark with the HTTP frame displayed ❗

12. Press File | Save As ... and save to pcapng file and add it on this thread.

Hey Greg,

Sorry for the delay. I had a few challenges. However I moved my pi3 to my office and it assigned a new ip of 2.123 instead of 2.122. I'm sure it doesn't matter. Here are 2 files, 1 from the ytuner pioneer sc79 execution log and the filtered pcapng file.

I didn't understand the issue.

If you have a Raspberry Pi, you are able to analyze with termshark directly on the Pi running ytuner.

Are you sure that the Pioneer NetRadio dns address are pointing to the Pi address ?.

Let me discuss about a different solution I am using. I have a local dns resolver running in my network called "PIHOLE".

I'm doing the following:

nslookup pioneer.vtuner.com
Server: Pihole
Address: Pihole#53

Non-authoritative answer:
pioneer.vtuner.com canonical name = test.vtuner.com.
Name: test.vtuner.com
Address: 75.126.113.179

At my setup the router told all clients that my resolver is the pihole (INCLUDING MY YAMAHA AVR). On the Pihole I have set dns masquerade like this:

address=/radioyamaha2.vtuner.com/ytuner02
address=/primary1b.vtuner.com/ytuner01
address=/backup2.vtuner.com/ytuner02

The I do nslookup again.

I have disabled dns functionality on the device running ytuner

I you like to use pihole and ytuner together on the Pi 3. you should stop ytuner on the pi. Run the Pihole install Prozess. Change the http Port to use different port like 81 and or 443.
Disable dns functionality via ytuner.ini. change the dhcp settings on your router to use dns via the pihole (keep in mind that pihole must have a reserved static IP.

Then you have both. Pihole filtering technique and a running dns service with masquerading. Easy to handle and after starting ytuner you should only have port 80 using by ytuner application.

Don't forget the masquerade entries in pihole. Check this with nslookup pioneer.vtuner.com . It should point to IP of your raspi.

Sound complicated, but isn't so.

Reason for this setup: i have pihole / adguard-Home running before using ytuner. I am using masquerading before. I do need no changes to my AVR setup. The dns itself set by dhcp on the router.

If you need guys, i will create a schematic plan.

And finally:
@greg are you using a table pointing to pioneer.vtuner.com and Yamaharadio.vtuner.com ? Or generally *.vtuner.com without subdomains ?

In my local ytuner.log I didn't see ytuner requests to yamaharadio.vtuner.com my requests are different, I mean no domain name there. This could come while masquerading right ?
