The previous discussion (#889) is still up to date. While there have historically been very few reports of any accounts being suspended, automating a user token remains a violation of Discord's Terms of Service. Do so at your own risk. If you don't have admin rights, you can ask a moderator of the server if they'd be willing to add a bot on your behalf. If they only give it permissions to read messages, it's no less safe than inviting a user. Not all admins are willing to do this, but it's worth an ask. If they say no, or you want to export direct messages, there is unfortunately no way to do this without breaching ToS. Some people do so anyway, because Discord's anti-selfbot measures primarily exist to avoid spam (e.g., sending new direct messages, joining new servers; not the kind of stuff DCE does). Usually there's no ban, but I want to stress that we don't endorse this. |

In doing some research, I came across the notion that using any automated means to retrieve message via a discord user account and not a discord bot account can create the unintended consequence of having one's discord user account suspended.
Is there any risk here of that happening with this tool?
I'm attempting to retrieve my journal entries from a discord I have no admin or mod rights.
