@RhetTbull Happy to help test here! Got an M1 mini running Monterey. I was actually gonna file an issue since I tried to use it the other day to set a Finder comment and realized it was broken. |

Thanks @luckman212 ! Would you mind cloning the repo and running the test suite and posting data on any failures here? I recommend creating a virtual environment first using venv or whichever tool you use (below uses venv)

I've been busy with several other projects so haven't had a chance to look at this. I see where the error is occurring (it's in the pyobjc package setup, not osxmetadata) but I don't understand why it's occurring given the data you provided. There's a newer version of pyobjc out for Monterey so I'll see if I can make that one work. |

@luckman212 Could you try the following command and post output here:
I've verified osxmetadata will work with the new version 8.0 of pyobjc but want to add a check to force the new version if on Monterey, otherwise will allow use of older versions to maintain backwards compatibility (I currently use osxmetadata on a machine running 10.12/Sierra!) |

Thanks @RhetTbull - sounds good. Yeah I saw pyobjc 8.0 out too. FYI 0.99.36 is working pretty well for me on Monterey right now after blowing out my virtualenv and rebuilding it. |

If you are running macOS Monterey (e.g. 12.0) and want to help ensure osxmetadata is working well on Monterey, let me know! My mac is too old to run Monterey so I can't test osxmetadata. I know of 1 issue so far (#50 ) that affects Monterey.
