@rdstern this sounds sensible to me. Adding (d) sounds good too - but then I'm definitely not an R-shy type, and so do not want to suggest something which would put others off. |

@rachelkg and @lilyclements I suggest we are close to preparing this video and practice - but particularly video!
We assume you have data to process and are considering using R for the anlysis. We show you some options depending on your context. We first explain the context. This has 2 components, the first is you and the second is the data, including the analyses. Maybe that's 3 components.
We start with introductions. These are different people, with different skills and confidence.
I am wanting partly to show different views of the data - in R-Instat, and with and without, showing commands in the output window.
And, writing the list there is one option missing, and I wonder if you agree we should add it.
a) Default: Data on left and output (results) on the right.
b) Get bold and show commands in the output window. Not for R-shy!
c) With large data frames the data window only shows a small part. So have the Column Metadata on left and results on the right. (Use R-viewer from toolbar or the pivot table to look at the data.)
d) With many data frames consider data frame metadata on left and results on the right. (We don't have this yet - do you agree we should add it?)
e) Swap data and script when using scripts for analyses. If do that pretty often then consider using RStudio
f) Move to RStudio - including R-Instat packages if useful.
The availability of f) is important to us, namely not promoting R-Instat, but good data processing.
Roger
