Unable to run CLI commands - 'node:events' does not provide an export named 'addAbortListener'

Hi, I'm trying to add react bits to my project, using:

npx jsrepo init https://reactbits.dev/ts/default

and keep getting this error:

`import {addAbortListener} from 'node:events';
        ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
SyntaxError: The requested module 'node:events' does not provide an export named 'addAbortListener'
    at ModuleJob._instantiate (node:internal/modules/esm/module_job:122:21)
    at async ModuleJob.run (node:internal/modules/esm/module_job:188:5)

Node.js v20.1.0`

I had Node 20.15.0 installed, thought that may be an issue. Got nvm, installed 22.14.0, am now using that as recognized by node -v globally and in my project. Then uninstalled 20.15.0, and still get this error. Have created multiple terminals, restarted machine, cleared the cache, etc etc. The only mention of node on my system per where.exe node is in the correct new nvm path.

Any ideas? :)

Hi @olivia-re !

First of all, not being able to use jsrepo is not the end of the road for using React Bits. Since I'm assuming you're not planning to use everything, you can also manually copy the components, and it's not that hard since there's usually only one or two files (one tsx, one css).

I'm not the owner of jsrepo, so it's hard for me to point you in the right direction.

Personally, I have Node 22.7.0 and the command runs just fine

You can try setting your node version to 22.13.5 or even 22.7.0 like me, it might or might not work.
You can also try installing jsrepo globally instead of using the npx commands (not sure if it helps with something but worth a shot)
npm i -g jsrepo@latest and then just use jsrepo init https://reactbits.dev/ts/default

Thank you! I ended up installing jsrepo globally and that mostly worked! Unfortunately I was using React 19 which react spring doesn't support, so I went down to 18 which caused some issues of course, but figuring it out! I got a component to work at least ✅ The cycle of development ❤️

Oh yeah, React 19 support isn't here yet for some of the dependencies this library uses, so upgrading is on hold until then unfortunately.
