Detecting discreet running automation processes

ELS supports a --marker "value" option. It is ignored by ELS but provides a mechanism to detect a specific running process for scripted automation.

For example with Linux shell script:

# get list of running processes
els_ps=`ps -ef`

# check if ELS backup job is running
echo "${els_ps}" | fgrep -- '--marker elsbackupjob' >/dev/null 2>&1
if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
    echo "ELS backup job appears to already be running" >>output/did-not-run.log
    exit 1
fi

# run the Job
